Experience REAL SOUTHERN HOSPITALITY!

This 100 year old villa offers something  unique: Women with women sharing stories, food, music and time. One woman's vision born out of necessity and encouragement from others, one of them her daughter! A note from Penny. My family have been in the southern region of the South Island for one hundred and fifty years; some of the earliest pioneering immigrants. The earliest, being a women who left England with her five daughters, because there was no future for her there.
Both of my grandmothers cooked for and accommodated people, in hotels and boarding houses. Recently, after some 20 years working in the hospitality industry, I realized how good I am at this also. Some creative visualization followed, fuelled by reading 'Women who run with the Wolves' (I highly recommend this book to all women) and also conversations with dear friends.   The vision... to open my house to women from all over the world, and the ensuing encouragement and comments like " Just do it! " bring me to this point. So here goes WOMEN-FOLK! An invitation to experience ' southern hospitality ' with a difference. An invitation to share some time at my kitchen table with us; myself, my two children and other guests and friends
I have three beautiful children, my eldest beauty, now a fine woman herself, has left the nest and is at present back in England, five generations later. She may surprise us one evening by joining us, and that would be a good reason for celebration. I come from generations of predecessors celebrating life. Come celebrate life with us. There has been some travel in the past for me, and I will travel again. At present I am committed to my children and 'home staying' with them. We have lived in this house for almost twenty years and over the last three years have had boarders from a variety of cultures. This experience was one of the inspirations for this idea....until I can travel again. Why not bring the world to our house?
So recently, I managed a building project and had the one hundred year old basement converted into a 'living' space. This living space will accommodate four women. It has a separate bathroom, and cooking facilities for convenience food. That translates to microwavable food, tea and toast. I have been an owner / operator of a restaurant and will happily entertain you in my kitchen and provide good food, fine wine, company and possibly even live music. Let's see what we can create............

My house is your house. My invitation, my hospitality, extends across the globe to any interested women.
Bring your stories, your culture, your music, your recipes and let's have a good time while you're 'down south'.
